Removal of the Old Filter Presses at Ilkeston

As part of on-going enhancement works at the Ilkeston Treatment Centre to increase Air Pollution Control residue capacity, two redundant filter press units were dismantled and removed. The work involved dismantling and lowering the presses from a raised gantry within a building. The job was carried out by East Midland Demolition LTD using a range of equipment including a tele-handler, cherry picker and cutting torches. The team carefully removed sections of the gantry until an area had been cleared to safely dismantle and remove each filter press whilst avoiding plant and equipment still in the area. There were no accidents or incidents and no near misses were reported during the job.
